Valerie Sowder is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, who, over the years since 1997, has provided mental health services in the private and public setting including a therapeutic residential ranch in Texas, home-based counseling and the public school system.  Valerie easily works well with a wide range of clients (children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families). Her specific areas of practice experience include, but are not limited to: managing difficult emotions and behaviors, ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, Mood Disorders, communication skills, parenting, relational issues, self-esteem, self-harm, trauma, and women’s issues.

Valerie’s treatment approach is integrative with a holistic perspective. She utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Family Systems, Solution Focused, and Strengths Based.  Valerie values the importance of evaluating a person’s overall health.  Incorporating clean eating, exercise, spirituality and other healthy life activities can affect positive change in emotional and mental health. She has completed training in Neurofeedback and enjoys learning current brain/neuroscience strategies that can hasten recovery and independent coping skills.

Valerie is passionate about offering people hope for change and to discover meaningful purpose. It takes courage and vulnerability to embark on a challenging journey towards change. She approaches her work with affirmation, honesty, and integrity in an effort to build trusting relationship with clients.
