Laura is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and she received her Master’s degree from Norfolk State University Advanced Standing Program in 2006. She has been a CSOTP (Certified Sex Offender Treatment Provider) since 2007 and has worked with clients of all ages with sexually related issues.
Laura has extensive experience working with adolescents with sexually harmful behaviors. She also received her CSAC (Certified Substance Abuse Counselor) in 2005 and has worked with adolescents and adults with substance abuse related issues. Laura has experience working with children and adolescents with ADHD and behavioral problems. She has also worked with client’s who have anger management issues.
Laura has been trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) and Cognitive Processing Therapy to provide evidenced based therapeutic interventions for trauma victims. In addition, Laura has extensive training and experience working with domestic violence victims. With this extensive experience in the most challenging situations Laura is just great with everyday couples issues as well.
Laura has provided individual, family, marriage, and group therapy in multiple settings. Her treatment approaches include structural family therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) and Neurofeedback [NFB]. Laura believes in a strengths based perspective and client centered approach.
