Jody Foley, LCSW
Jody Foley is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She attended Penn State University, graduated from Old Dominion University with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology, and completed her Masters in Social Work at Norfolk State University in 2006.
Jody uses a direct, humorous, yet nurturing approach with clients in order to help increase esteem and build rapport. Jody provides individual, family and group therapy, and actually covers the waterfront of treatment possibilities.
Not only does she enjoy working with adults, children, and adolescents – she works, as many at PSA do, within a cognitive behavioral and structural family therapy perspective. Jody is influenced as well by Virginia Satir’s vision to help empower people to meet their full potential. No negatives here, only positive rebuilding – that smile is who she is.
Jody has extensive experience working with children and adolescents who have significant emotional and behavioral issues. She specializes in working with diagnoses that include ADHD, Asperger’s, Attachment issues, Anxiety, Bipolar, Oppositional Defiance, Depression, Self-esteem, Communication, and Family issues.
Her experience ranges from the private practice to residential treatment and her clinical experience has instilled in her the importance of treating the whole family, not just the child or individual. Additionally, it is her belief that for children and adolescents to improve, parent participation in treatment is imperative. Jody provides parent education and support while treating children with mental health issues. Jody also collaborates well with other agencies such as schools, social services, hospitals, in-home services, residential facilities, and the courts in order to ensure clients are receiving comprehensive treatment.
We really appreciate Jody working with PSA- she has a can-do, no nonsense attitude, a great sense of humor, and simply won’t let any challenges ruffle her feathers.
