Deborah Mostert LPC

Bio:
Deborah Mostert is a Licensed Professional Counselor with 25 years of clinical experience in both private practice and public mental health centers – and she is wise, but not rusty.

Deborah’s work with clients is based upon principles of cognitive-behavioral therapy and family systems.  She enjoys working with children, adolescents, and adults in resolving depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), substance abuse/dependence, family problems, marital conflict, difficulties associated with divorce, and parenting problems. In a word, Deborah gets the interface between all the mental health players on our team – from social workers, to medical staff, to front office, to doctors in the community.

In addition, Mrs. Mostert provides services through the Hope Christian Counseling Center, a division of Parker, Schlichter, & Associates for clients seeking counseling in the context of a Christian perspective.  She provides an accessible, straightforward, and commonsensical approach with the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the input of His Holy Word, the Bible.

Deborah has 25 years of experience in providing Employee Assistance Services (EAP) and works closely with EAP companies to help employees whose emotional or family problems are impacting their work performance. Deborah brought together the Rapid Response Team at PSA, and is our admin go-to for extended community outreach programs.

Deborah is a results-driven therapist who recognizes her clients’ strengths and competence, and loves working with them. She is also highly regard as a radio talk show guest on local [Va Beach] Christan Radio, and consults with pastors on the interface between spiritual counseling and pure psychotherapy. Sometimes the two practices can lead to unpredictable challenges, and Deborah has a plan to prevent misunderstandings.
